2018 Infiniti Q50: same performance with an improved design

2018 Infiniti Q50: same performance with an improved design

The Infiniti Q50 was born more than 15 years ago when the Infiniti G35 hit the market. The G35 essentially saved Infiniti and made it a household name again, and more importantly it allowed the Japanese automaker to not only compete with established German automakers in the compact luxury vehicle segment, but actually steal some clients away from the big three from Germany.

Fast-forward to today, and Infiniti applies the same recipe to the Q50 as it did to the G35. That means that it offers more power for less money, and more safety and connectivity features as well. Many of those features are exclusive to the Q50 which, for the 2018 model-year, also gets a few visual tweaks as well as an improved interior. These go this year with the mechanical changes introduced in 2016.

We now have the most complete Infiniti Q50 to date, a model that has the power, features, comfort, refinement and overall gusto to take on its competition with confidence.

The 2018 Infiniti Q50 outshines every other competing model with its V6 engine

The new 2018 Infiniti Q50 offers four varying power outputs, but let’s start by looking at its twin-turbo, 3.0-liter V6 engine that delivers 300 horsepower in the Q50 3.0, and 400 horsepower in the Infiniti Q50 Redsport 400. Now, the Q50 3.0 starts at just 45 900 $ while the Red Sport 400 is available starting at just $ 52,600.

In other words, in its price range no other model can compete in terms of power with the 2018 Infiniti Q50.

That’s also true for the 2018 Infiniti Q50 2.0T which starts at just $39,900. It features standard all-wheel drive, and a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder turbocharged engine that makes 208 horsepower. And then there is the 2018 Q50 Hybrid which offers a 3.5-liter V6 engine which is paired with a 50-kW electric motor for a total output of 360 horsepower.

Six drive modes for the 2018 Infiniti Q50

The 2018 Infiniti Q50 is packed with impressive and often unique technologies such as its electronic adaptive steering system, or its adaptive cruise control system which can detect not only what the car ahead of you is doing, but also the car that is two vehicles ahead.

Moreover, there are six driving modes available on the 2018 Infiniti Q50 which modifies how the transmission, engine and steering system (among other mechanical components) react. You can therefore optimize how the Q50 behaves in the snow, and you can also change its behavior to be sportier, more fuel-efficient or more comfortable.
